While certain wavelengths are effective in destroying viruses, the cost and intricacies of utilizing this technology correctly are substantial. Obtaining UV lamps that are tested and certified to produce the exact wavelength of effective light is difficult and expensive. The UV light emitted by these systems is also very harmful to humans and can cause severe burns and cancer. For a vast majority of commercial spaces these systems present more risk and cost than they are worth.
